Toshiba 7200RPM SATA III 6Gb/s 3.5″ OEM Internal Hard Drive Review

Toshiba 7200RPM SATA III 6Gb/s 3.5″ OEM Internal Hard Drive Review

The Toshiba P300 Series 3.5 internal hard drive offers the storage capacity you need and the performance you demand. No matter what brand of desktop PC you are using, this reliable hard drive can take your performance and productivity to a whole new level. This drive combines Toshiba time-tested hard drive technology with the right balance of performance, capacity and long-term dependability, making it an excellent choice for your everyday computing needs.

The exception to this hard drive is that the warranty is only 90 days standard.  The life time between MTBF or mean time between failures is limited.  Having worked with this hard drive numerous times you can expect a fatal error to occur within 2 and a half years.  The latest drive is now a trash bin piece after working on a Linux server for that time.  The hard drive is simple to install and Ubuntu Linux does recognize it during set up but it is extremely important to have back ups with particular device.

The toshiba HDWD110UZSVA is an OEM product and is cost is low when you do find it.  The hard drive tends to come without a box or cables so you are on your own with the setup.  You do not need any type of special software, just format and install something on it.  Toshiba may provide you an RMA but the support needs to improve.  An Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) is a company that produces parts and equipment that may be marketed by another manufacturer

Our recommendation is to spend the extra 15 dollars to purchase a Western Digital drive.  At least that comes with a warranty of 3 years.  You can read the benchmarks for the drive by clicking here.
