It seems poor old Apple has run into some serious issues in the last few months where the first thing was a poor battery forcing the iOS to be slowed down, followed by a bug that allowed anyone to change the password on their App Store and finally this where the source code for a core component of the iPhone’s operating system was leaked on GitHub.<\/p>\n

The code, which appears to be for iBoot, or the part of iOS that ensures a trusted boot of the operating system, was initially shared online several months\u00a0ago on Reddit, but it resurfaced today on GitHub where it will presumably receive more attention.<\/p>\n

The iBoot code appears to be from a version of iOS 9, so it’s not entirely relevant to the current iOS 11.2.5 operating system, but some of the code from iOS 9 likely still exists in iOS 11. It remains to be seen if anything will come of the leak, though, and it’s also worth noting that modern iOS devices have protection in the form of the Secure Enclave.<\/p>\n

Apparently some files are missing not allowing you to recompile the code but\u00a0security experts on Twitter say it could allow hackers and security researchers to find iOS vulnerabilities and create jailbreaks.\u00a0 \u00a0One thing to keep in mind is that there is a documents directory that offers additional information relevant to iBoot and this alone can provide information for folks that will exploit the iOS.<\/p>\n

Is this a serious problem ?\u00a0 \u00a0It does matter how you look at things, yes it gives openings to people looking to inflict damage but at the same time it is like the internet when it released how to make bombs.\u00a0 This is just a part of freedom we need to understand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
